Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives at The Reagan Library

If you’re in Southern California, you might want to consider making a trip to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley.

From now through April 2013 the Library, in association with D23, is hosting a special Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives exhibit.

There are over 500 artifacts on display, including a full scale recreation of Walt’s formal office from the Walt Disney Studios.

Plus a large quantity of props, costumes, and set pieces from recent Disney movies.

The Avengers, Captain America and Iron Man in particular. (hey, aren’t there new films in both those franchises coming out this year?)

And as you can see in the background, there was a huge Pirates of the Caribbean display…

… including a large scale model of the Black Pearl.

There was also a sizable exhibit about the National Treasure films.

Before concluding with a gallery focused on Walt Disney’s Hall of Presidents…

… and President Reagan’s own sizable connections to Walt & the Disney company.

Disney Stars at CHOC’s South Tower Dedication Celebration

A variety of Disney (and one Nick star) showed up for the dedication of CHOC’s South Tower in Orange, CA on February 2nd 2013.

These included Kyle Massey from Cory in the House …

… Aedin Mincks from A.N.T. Farm …

… Roshon Fegan from Shake it Up …

… and Nolan Gould from Modern Family.

And who could forget the Chick-fil-A cow and Build-a-Bear bear? 🙂

But if you were looking for the longest line, look no further than the In-N-Out food truck!

On a serious note, this was a major milestone for Children’s Hospital Orange County and we are very excited about the opening of the new tower.

JoJo and Leah Labelle – Concert at the Roxy

This is kind of embarrassing.

You all remember that post about when I saw JoJo at the Roxy, right?

Well, the videos from the event were pretty damn awesome.

But the photos? Well, those were worth sharing too. 🙂

She is a very attractive young lady, no denying that.

I also liked her opening act Leah Labelle.

I don’t know much about her, but she really can sing.

She has nice legs, and the barely there top didn’t hurt any either. LOL

Studio 365 – Props and Costumes

I had visited the Disney Studio 365 store in Downtown Disney once before.

It’s clearly intended for tween girls but I had decided to quickly poke around because I learned that they had some props and costumes from Sonny with a Chance.

Well, the SWAC costumes may be gone but they have some cool new stuff there now. I was there again to see Bridgit Mendler back in September and I had to check out the new props and costumes.

These included quite a few items from Jessie.

It took me so long to recognize the character of Jessie in a bi-plane… I’m not sure why they chose to display it like that.

But as always, it was Shake it Up that stole the show. xD

JoJo at the Roxy Theatre (Videos)

Last night (12/04/12) the very talented JoJo (Joanna Levesque) performed her first LA concert in ages at the Roxy Theatre in LA. And as you can probably guess, I was there.

You might remember her 2004 self titled debut album, her 2006 follow up album “The High Road,” or if you’ve ever seen “Aquamarine” she played Emma Robert’s best friend.

Holidays at the Disneyland Resort

It’s Holiday time at the Disneyland resort!

My work commitments keep me rather busy durring the holidays, but one of my favorite Christmas time traditions is to see Billy Hill and the Holiday Hillbillies.

This year, following the opening of Cars Land across the plaza, Disney had decided to move the Billies out of the Golden Horseshoe and into the Frontierland festival area.

The move has upset some, but I must admit that they are certainly taking advantage of the opportunity.

What really impressed me was that they brought the Country Bears back!

Okay, so it’s not their old show, but it is still very cool to see Big Al and the gang back at Disneyland.

Meanwhile back over at DCA, Buena Vista St is all decked out for the holidays…

And the town center Christmas tree could not be any more perfect.

Cars land got a similar Christmas make over.

They did a really good job on it in my opinion.

And the make over looks especially good at night.

Of course, nothing compares to Sleeping Beauty castle after snowfall.

Except for possibly the Holiday Fireworks from the Astro Orbiter.

Ariana Grande of Victorious was the title performer at the 2012 Citadel Outlets Tree Lighting in LA.

She performed a total of five songs, including two orginal songs, a Justin Bieber cover, and two christmas covers.

Wreck It Ralph Premiere in Hollywood

This evening, 10/29/12 was the world premiere of Disney’s Wreck It Ralph at the historic El Capitan theater in Hollywood.

I have never been to a real Hollywood premiere before, so I thought it might be fun to drop by and see who I can see.

Disney girls in attendance included Peyton List, Laura Marano, and Bella Thorne.

Stefanie Scott of A.N.T. Farm was there as well. She actually voices a character in the movie. 🙂

The film stars John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer, and Jane Lynch. Hey look, speaking of Jane Lynch. 🙂

There were quite a few Disney guys too, including Cameron Boyce and Karan Brar from Jessie…

… Davis Cleveland from Shake it Up …

… and Lucas Gabriel from Switched at Birth and High School Musical. I got a high five from him. 🙂

For a major movie premiere, the whole thing seemed a bit low key. Bella came without Zendaya, Laura came without her sister Vanessa, and everyone from Jessie came except for Debby. But hey, it was still fun. 🙂

D23 Expo 2013 Tickets

On Thursday, Aug. 9, at 10 a.m. PT, D23: The Official Disney Fan Club will begin selling tickets for the next D23 Expo, which will open one year later and run from Aug. 9-11, 2013, at the Anaheim Convention Center. More than 40,000 Disney fans from around the world gathered at the Anaheim Convention Center in 2011 for the second D23 Expo: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. In anticipation of even bigger attendance, D23 Expo 2013 will feature: an overflow theater for the D23 Arena, which will accommodate more than 2,000 guests for live streaming of the popular Arena presentations; nearly double the size of presentation venue Stage 23 (formerly 1,000 seats); and an expanded show floor, to include Halls A, B, C and D, as well as a larger Collectors’ Forum to provide even more magical experiences for guests.

D23 Expo 2013 will also feature the Disney Legends Awards-a stirring biennial event that pays tribute to the talented men and women who have made indelible contributions to the Disney legacy; an all-new Fan Art Contest themed to the upcoming 50th anniversary of Mary Poppins; the 12,000 square-foot Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives exhibit featuring costumes, props, and set pieces from Disney’s rich history; plus amazing live events, celebrity appearances, panels and presentations, sneak peeks, and unique experiences that celebrate the past, present, and future of Disney.

Tickets for D23 Expo 2013 will be available at a discounted price for a limited time. From August 9-December 31, 2012, tickets will be $47 for a one-day adult admission and $37 for children 3-12. Tickets for members of D23: The Official Disney Fan Club will be $40 for a one-day adult admission and $32 for children. Multi-day money-saving tickets are also available for both D23 Members and the general public, and D23 Members can save as much as $204 off the price of admission, based on the purchase of four three-day tickets at the D23 Member rate.
